The structure of the instrument is based on black granite with air bearings for mobile main carriage displacement. The carriage clamping implemented by depression. The measurement contact surfaces are made of chromium-coated hardened steel (hardness ~ 1000 HV).

The air bearings allow an easy and fast movement of the measurement table (carriage) with possibility of a final micrometric adjustment by a clutch.
The mobile part has a free movement with constant applied meas. force to intercept the reverse point during the measurement of external or internal diameters.
